Canyon Sparkles Island Manzanita

11/26/25 – Looking good after just a few months. It’s branching nicely since the caterpillars went to town on it just after I put it into the pot. I had rocks at the base to keep the squirrels from digging in the pot.

7/9/25 – I purchased this Canyon Sparkles manzanita from Linda Vista Natives. This one is supposed to do well in pots, which is rare, so I had to add it to my collection of container grown manzanitas. I had a large pot with a Bougainvillea in it that I ripped out and will be throwing away. My taste in plants has changed dramatically since I’ve fallen in love with CA Natives! Looking forward to seeing how this does over the years. I added about 4-5 cups of glacial rock dust and a whole lot of rice hulls. Also added some Mycorrhizae to the mix.
