7/26/25 – We’ve had one of the mildest summers I can ever remember here in San Jose, CA. I’ve been watering this, very deeply, about once every 10 days or so. I also water very far from the plant itself, to encourage the roots to spread far and wide. I’m thinking I might not need to water this next summer because it’s thriving in a way that I never imagined.

7/19/25 – 39″ tall and looking good. Several of the other branches look like they were ‘tipped’ but it was not me, lol. It’s doubled in size in the last 2 months when it was just 20″ tall.

6/16/25 – 32″ tall and branching like crazy. It was 9″ just 6 months ago.

6/1/25 – This manzanita looks very happy in it’s new home. I planted it as a one gallon and it absolutely exploded this spring. It’s now 26″ tall having grown 6″ in 2 weeks time.

5/17/25 – nice growth spurt happening on most of my manzanitas right now. This has doubled in size in 5 months, clocking in at 20″ already and branching nicely.

12/14/24 – Planted in front with full sun. It should provide some nice privacy in 5 years; currently people can see right into the front room from the street. Added mycorrhiza to the soil before planting. It’s 9″ tall and has been topped already so that it branches out quickly.

Purchased a 1 gallon plant on 9/28/24 from Linda Vista Natives

Here is a mature one, just noticed that looks like it’s in a container
