Toyon

5/17/25 – I’ve stopped watering this as I’ve seen some issues with leaf spotting and some leaves turning red and dropping. I’m trying to rule out fungal disease or blight since I was watering it pretty heavily. I’ve added some mulch and am considering this ‘established’ at this point so I will stop watering it completely.

This is the first year I’ve seen flowers, looks like there will be berries this winter if all goes well.

4/20/25 – Starting to gets it’s legs under it and filling out nicely.

1/13/25 – Starting to grow nicely in these last few months. Oleander is now just a stump that I will dig up in the coming months. This Toyon was planted as a replacement for the Oleander. I’m trying to replace non-native and toxic plants in the yard with California natives that benefit wildlife.

Planted 6/2/24Rescued from Summer Winds; the other plant that was with this one is still there months later 🙁

It’s happy to finally be planted after having sit in the pot for another 6 months after I bought it.
