The newest manzanita’s to the collection, this makes 19 types in total. Purchased from Linda Vista Natives on 9/23/24. These are very nice and were timed perfectly for the fall/winter planting season. I’ll be planting one of these in the yard next week.

Front Yard
11/26/25 – Lots of pink flowers starting to form on the one out front, no sign of any flowers yet on the one on the backyard.

11/16/25 – First flower on the Brother James manzanita. The new leaves are very light compared to what the mature leaves look like.

This one has been in the ground for just over a year.

10/3/25 – 11 months in the ground. This one grew much faster than the one in the backyard. Looking forward to seeing the flowers on this one for the first time.

5/18/25 – Plant has exploded in the last 7 months, it must really like the full sun

10/25/24 Planted one in front yard with full sun. Amended the soil with mycorrhizae and also a few handfuls of Malibu Compost

Back Yard
11/18/25 – About 1 year in the ground and looking really good after getting off to a rough start where half the plant mysteriously died of some kind of fungal growth.

10/3/25 – starting to fill out nicely, but still about 1/2 the size of the one out front.

12/3/24 – Planted the second one in the backyard where it gets full sun. Paired with John Dourley and Paradise Manzanitas. Amended the soil with mycorrhizae
