Purchased from Linda Vista Natives<\/a> in April 2025. It needs fast draining, sandy loam, soil and summer water will kill it. I will have to think about where best to put it. I might grow it out in a large container for awhile since I read that is also possible. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

4\/2\/26 – lots of flowers and the plant seems to be doing well where it’s at. It’s a fast grower for sure. I’ve seen a few native bees on it but it does not seem to be a favorite with the pollinators. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

3\/23\/26 – First flower of the year! <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This plant gets zero sun in the winter time, so there was not much new growth but now that the sun is hitting it again, I’m expecting some decent growth over the next few months. It’s about 10 months old in this photo.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

7\/15\/25 – Found a native bee getting nectar from the flower just a few minutes after planting. These flowers are loaded with nectar, you can see the flowers glistening at the centers, I’ve even seen what looked like a drip. Apparently this nectar glows blue under UV light.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

7\/13\/25 – I was a little worried about planting this in summer but it seems to be doing fine so far. I’m watering very sparingly and I’ve covered it with shade on the hottest days. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

5\/17\/25 – Decided to go ahead and plant this before summer hits. I’ll try to keep it shaded during the hottest part of the year. Planted this against the fence to the neighbor, it’s fairly shaded in the winter so it will need to put on some height to get sun. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This plant is supposed to get between 5-8′ tall and about 10′ wide. It’s also planted on a slope to help with drainage.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
