3\/19\/26 – There is a brand new plant emerging from the center! <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

2\/24\/26 – 7.5 months in the ground for the very first flower. It’s so bright and cheery! <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

2\/22\/26 – Found the caterpillar, or at least one of them! <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

2\/14\/26 – This plant is easily the most eaten of all my CA natives, the leaves are regularly destroyed and even some of the flower buds have been eaten. It’s yet to flower, but getting very close now. Lots of new growth from the center of the plant. It’s ~7 months old now.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

12\/21\/25 – Starting the get leggy. Pairs nice with the Ceanothus and Manzanita!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

11\/30\/25 – Almost 5 months in the ground and starting to spread quite a bit. I’m seeing a bunch of new growth in the center of the plant. It looks like this is going to be a bushy, bush poppy. Eagerly awaiting the flowers to arrive but happy with the progress so far.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

9\/14\/25 – Looking good after a little over 2 months in the ground. I’ve been watering deeply every 10 days or so, usually when the weather is cooler, which has been easy this year since the weather has been so mild. Looking forward to spring when the ceanothus starts blooming, I’m hoping that the bush poppy is flowering by then. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

3+ months later and I “think” one of the two clones I took might be showing signs of new growth. The other one rotted away in just a few weeks. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

7\/4\/25 – Planted one of my bush poppies into the front yard. I topped it to help bush it out and then used those cuttings to try and make a clone. one of the clones is still alive, fingers crossed it makes it. Franciscan manzanita is behind the bush poppy. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

5\/20\/25 –<\/strong> I was able to finally source a couple of these from Linda Vista Natives<\/a>!<\/strong> I’m going to plant one of them next week and then try to keep the other one in a pot as a backup.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

6\/7\/25 – Took some cuttings since I wanted these plants to bush out. Let’s see if these are any easier than the seed method. I used rooting hormone and planted directly into the Fox Farm soil that I used to successfully root some monkey flowers.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In typical fashion, my bush poppy seedling has popped the day after I purchased these. It took a couple of months but I was successful in propagating one using the fire treatment method! <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was not able to find this plant anywhere local. My dog decided to try to eat the seed packet that I just ordered. I managed to stop him before he ate the entire package.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here is a what the seedlings look like. This is good to know because I actually had one growing in one pot but I had assumed it was some kind of weed and I killed it<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
