12\/21\/25 – I spotted some flowers starting to form already and the plant is only 1 year old. It’s about 55″ tall now, I’m astonished at how fast it grew from a tiny 1 gallon pot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

11\/16\/25 – 11 months in the ground and 52″ tall already! It’s also already starting to show off some of the red bark. This should look pretty amazing in a couple of years. I’m not going to water it at all next year unless things get really extreme. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lots of leaf damage on the one, it seems to be providing food to some native insects, much better than the boxwood that is directly behind this. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

8\/23\/25 – This Austin Griffiths grows faster than any Manzanita I’ve ever grown, it’s super happy where it’s at. It’s branching like crazy and getting some nice twisted branches from the ones that grew too tall and fell over, they are now reaching back up for the sun. It’s only been in the ground for ~8 months now and it’s already 42″ tall. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

7\/26\/25 – We’ve had one of the mildest summers I can ever remember here in San Jose, CA. I’ve been watering this, very deeply, about once every 10 days or so. I also water very far from the plant itself, to encourage the roots to spread far and wide. I’m thinking I might not need to water this next summer because it’s thriving in a way that I never imagined.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

7\/19\/25 – 39″ tall and looking good. Several of the other branches look like they were ‘tipped’ but it was not me, lol. It’s doubled in size in the last 2 months when it was just 20″ tall.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

6\/16\/25 – 32″ tall and branching like crazy. It was 9″ just 6 months ago.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

6\/1\/25 – This manzanita looks very happy in it’s new home. I planted it as a one gallon and it absolutely exploded this spring. It’s now 26″ tall having grown 6″ in 2 weeks time. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

5\/17\/25 – nice growth spurt happening on most of my manzanitas right now. This has doubled in size in 5 months, clocking in at 20″ already and branching nicely.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

12\/14\/24<\/strong> – Planted in front with full sun. It should provide some nice privacy in 5 years; currently people can see right into the front room from the street.<\/strong> Added mycorrhiza to the soil before planting.<\/strong> It’s 9″<\/strong> tall and has been topped<\/strong> already<\/strong> so that it branches out quickly<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
